Who is Jennie?
I was a ‘war baby’, born in 1942 while my Dad was up, up and away, flying in Catalina Flying Boats, doing reconnaissance over New Guinea and surrounds.
While he was away, Mum and I lived with family in Five Dock in Sydney’s inner west – soon to become a new home to the many Italians who fled Italy after the war.
Typical of most females of my generation, I married young, had lots of kids – five sons in my case – and got on with being a mother. In the seventies I found myself a single mother and life got very busy.
In the early 90s, I fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending university to study journalism. I was fortunate to secure a position as a journalist and sub-editor with a small publishing company, which lasted around ten years.
In 2007, I published my first [and only, so far] book: Panthers, Passion and Politics. I love to write, and I have kept a journal every time I’ve travelled. Hence this website, to share with you some of the magical places and people I have encountered along the way.
I began to teach Italian in 2010, and I continue to do so. I have also written my own Italian text book, but it’s not published - yet.
